CDOG’s Farewell – Thank You & Next Steps
To ALL Members and Volunteers, past and present,
After 33 years, the Craigieburn Dog Obedience Group will be closing its doors.
Following the post-pandemic transition to a for-profit model, it has become increasingly difficult to sustain the club. With declining membership renewals and the loss of instructors, it has become clear that continuing operations in this format is no longer viable.
In 2025 Stellar Pups: Dog Training and Behaviour Management took on the club in the hopes of reviving community spirit and interest in keeping the multi-decade legacy of obedience training going forward. Unfortunately, community enthusiasm has been lacking and without the support of a full committee, the dog club cannot function effectively. As much as I would like to keep CDOG going, realistically, Stellar Pups cannot fund the club indefinitely.
For this reason, CDOG will officially close on 28 June 2026.
I would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank the following volunteers for their dedication and service:
Ms Rebecca “Bec” Grant (Duke, Class 4)
Bec has been with the club since 2018 and even took on the role of instructor for a few of those years. She has since retired from instructing and is busy with a new career and a new addition to her family, young Master Jett. All the best to you Bec, Michael, Duke and little Jett. May the future be bright and adventurous.
Mrs Tracy Collett (Hook, Class 3/Cass, Class 4)
Tracy has made the trek from Broadford to Craigieburn reliably for me over the last 18 months, she is a popular instructor with our more senior members and currently instructs Class2/3. Without Tracy’s support I would not have coped doing all the work on my own, she has been a lifesaver.
Mrs Belinda “Bel” Walsh (Frankie, Class 1)
Bel graciously took on the social media side of things for me this year. Though a recent addition to the CDOG family, Bel’s efforts to get the info out for everyone is very much appreciated.
I would also like to make special mention of Mrs Fay Harding. Her dedication, passion, strength, and leadership have been a driving force behind CDOG for many years. It is no exaggeration to say that her influence helped sustain the club for as long as it did. I dare say that had her health not taken the turn it did, she would still be barking at us all over our footwork.
To all volunteers not named individually—please know your contributions have not gone unnoticed. On behalf of CDOG, thank you for your time, commitment, and support over the years.
For those interested in updates regarding the closing-down sale and Farewell BBQ, please email craigieburndogobediencegroup@gmail.com with either “Yes, I’m interested” or “No, thanks”.
Thank you all for being part of the Craigieburn Dog Obedience Group over the past 33 years.
Wishing you all the best,
Stella Ryan
